Q&A

If a Protestant convert to Catholicism was previously married outside of the Church, why does he need an annulment to remarry?

Question:

When a Protestant man and woman are married in a non-Catholic ceremony which is not celebrated by a Catholic priest, why does an annulment have to be obtained in the event one becomes Catholic and wants to remarry?<br />
