Getting Saved the Catholic Way

New book shows how Jesus set up the Church to lead us to heaven

SAN DIEGO: How do we seek salvation in this life so as to enjoy eternal happiness in the next? This is a key question for all religions—and for religious debates, especially between Catholics and Protestants.

A new book from Catholic Answers Press argues powerfully for the Catholic approach to this question. In Salvation Is from the Catholic Church, apologist Trent Horn (Why We’re Catholic, the “Counsel of Trent” podcast) shows how Jesus instituted the Catholic Church as the instrument through which he intended his saving truths and graces to flow.

Fresh off his appearance as a featured speaker at the 2026 SEEK conference in Ft. Worth, Horn explains how salvation is neither a legalistic process of following rules nor a mere one-time private act of faith. Rather, believers are brought into a community of grace, shepherded by a Church that teaches, governs, and sanctifies with Christ’s authority, that transforms their souls and prepares them for heaven. Horn then goes on to answer, with convincing logic and biblical coherence, the most common objections to Catholic soteriology raised by Protestants.

“Too often, Christians fall into the trap of thinking that salvation either comes from faith in Jesus or through a church’s sacraments, teachings, and precepts,” says Todd Aglialoro, director of publishing for Catholic Answers Press. “Trent Horn shows that this is a false choice. The Catholic Church doesn’t replace faith in Christ, but gives it full expression, extending to us all the salvific tools that Jesus provides in order to lead us closer to him.”
