What about Rapists’ Violence in Abortion Debates?

Listen to the audio version of this content

Question:

Why, in debates about abortion, is the focus on the woman's choice and nobody talks about how most male violence towards women happens when a woman is pregnant?

Answer:

No doubt the moral evil of rapists’ is not an aside when discussing women who are impregnated by sexual assault.

Yet, over the years, I have consistently seen pro-lifers note that such rapists should undoubtedly be punished harshly, and that men in general should be exhorted to respect women and thus live chastely.

On the other hand, pro-lifers also emphasize that the crime of rape, and the trauma of the rape victim, is only compounded, not lessened, by the killing of a conceived child via subsequent abortion.
