Skip Angels and Saints and Pray Straight to God?

Question:

May Catholics ignore saints and angels and pray only to God? Yes or no?

Answer:

Permit me to answer your question with a question: Why would you want to ignore the angels and saints, whom God has given us as great intercessors? Scripture encourages us to pray for one another (1 Tim. 2:1-2), and I’m sure you ask family and friends to intercede for you instead of simply “praying only to God.”

And why not? You multiply your prayers in doing so (see 2 Cor. 1:11), and the angels and saints are in heaven and thus in a more powerful intercessory role than anyone here on earth (see Rev. 8:3; Heb. 12:1-2, 23).
