Nothing Wrong with an Epidural

Question:

Is it morally permissible to get an epidural during labor, or should it be a natural birth?

Answer:

Some women have heroically forsaken an epidural to offer up all of their labor pains for some special intention or intentions, but there is certainly no moral obligation to do so. Catholic hospitals make epidurals available to mothers in labor. And even with an epidural there can be pain to offer up—not to mention various pains during the nine months preceding that can also be offered up.
