Look at Your Wife, Not at Pictures of Other Women

Listen to the audio version of this content

Question:

Is looking at pictures of lingerie and sexy clothing to enhance your marriage a sin?

Answer:

Simply put, don’t do it. Viewing and appreciating your wife as a whole person—not as an object—while she is wearing such garments is certainly fine. But viewing images of other women in such clothing is disrespectful to your wife and harmful to your well-being. It will only foster the sin of lust and thus undermine your marriage.

As a good alternative, cultivate the virtue of chastity and thus a greater respect for your wife (CCC 2331ff.).v
