Does Jesus Say to Worship Him?

Question:

Where in Scripture does Jesus say we should worship him?

Answer:

Jesus conveys his divinity in various places, perhaps most emphatically in John 8, taking to himself the divine name God revealed to Moses in Hebrew (Exod. 3:14)—“I am” (YHWH). In other words, Jesus’ essence is existence, meaning it’s his nature to exist, and thus he’s an eternal being. When Jesus ascribed this name to himself, the Jewish people picked up stones to kill him because of his perceived blasphemy (John 8:58-59).

Because Jesus revealed himself to be God, his disciples—notably his apostle Thomas (John 20:28) and his apostles in general (Matt. 28:17)—worshipped him.
