Do Homosexual Animals Prove Homosexuality Is Natural?

Question:

Does homosexuality in animals prove that it’s a natural condition?

Answer:

Just because some animals engage in homosexual sex does not mean it’s natural. Aberrations can occur in species, and arguments based on the absence of sexual complementarity between two males and two females would apply with animals as they do with human beings.

In contrast to animals, which are non-rational beings, human persons are made in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:27), and thus have the powers to know and choose between good and evil, as opposed to simply relying on their instincts. Consequently, and despite man’s suffering from concupiscence via the Fall, man is responsible for his choices, and God will judge him accordingly. That is, human persons know better and so should rejoice that they have the power to choose good over evil and experience the freedom and serenity that goes with choosing well (see John 8:31-32; 14:27).
