Did Adam and Eve’s Sons and Daughters Intermarry?

Listen to the audio version of this content

Question:

Did Adam and Eve's immediate offspring have sexual intercourse?

Answer:

Yes, within the first generation of Adam and Eve’s offspring, intermarriage did take place, and thus they would have engaged in the marital act. That’s the testimony from the ancient rabbis as well as being logically inferred from the Church’s teaching on original sin, as we discuss further in this answer.
