“Coco” a No-Go

Question:

Should Catholics see the Pixar Animation Studios movie "Coco?"

Answer:

We recommend you not patronize Coco, particularly with children. While its setting in Mexico gives it the trappings of Catholicism, its treatment of the afterlife is problematic. In the movie’s universe, some souls don’t live forever but instead go out of existence, and there is no mention of an eternal hell.

There are simply better movies for your children to see, especially regarding films with religious themes. For more on this movie, see Steven Greydanus’s review.
