How does a layman assist a priest in case of an emergency baptism?

Answer:

A layman could conceivably could assist, for example, by getting the priest water, which the priest could then bless and administer in the sacrament. However, as we explain in this answer, Catholic laymen and even non-Christians can administer this sacrament in an emergency.
