Tom Hoopes is Vice President of College Relations and writer in residence at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. He has written for the National Catholic Register for more than 20 years and was its executive editor for 10. His writing has appeared in First Things’ First Thoughts, National Review Online, Crisis, Our Sunday Visitor, Inside Catholic, and Columbia.
Hoopes is a graduate of the University of San Francisco’s St. Ignatius Institute. He worked in public relations for Chevron, then as a reporter in Washington, D.C. After serving as Press Secretary for U.S. House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Bill Archer, Houston, Texas, in his personal office, Hoopes did non-profit communications work in Washington, D.C.
He was editor of the National Catholic Register from 1999-2009 and with his wife, April, was editorial co-director of Faith & Family magazine from 2003 until 2009. They have eight children.
