Sister Esther Mary Nickel, R.S.M., Ph.D., S.L.D. is a member of the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan. In the summer of 2004, she completed a Doctorate in Sacred Liturgy from the Pontifical Institute for the Liturgy at Saint Anselm’s in Rome. Her studies and work in Rome fostered a deep appreciation for the liturgical life of the Church. She followed with particular interest the Papal Liturgical celebrations of Pope John Paul II and the liturgical writings of our current Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. She is a Professor of Sacred Liturgy and Sacramental Theology at Saint John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, Colorado.
