Fr. Daniel Maurer graduated magna cum laude fromMichiganStateUniversityinEast Lansingin 1973. He joined the Canons Regular of the Order of the Holy Cross (Crosiers) in 1975 for novitiate and major seminary. He transferred in 1981 to the Augustinians of the Assumption (Assumptionists) and completed his priesthood studies at the Jesuit Weston School of Theology inCambridge,Massachusetts, earning a Masters of Divinity in 1983. From 1983 to 1988, Br. Daniel worked in various Assumptionist communities in theU.S.,Mexico, andChile. He joined Fr. Myron inGuamas Dean of Students and Spanish teacher at Fr. Duenas Memorial School. Two years later, the community moved toModesto,California, where Br. Daniel again was dean and Spanish teacher. He was ordained on September 20, 1992, inVladivostokin Most Holy Mother ofGodChurchby Bishop Joseph Werth, SJ.
