How to Talk About Jesus with Anyone: Tested Techniques for Planting Seeds and Saving Souls
When it came to spreading the gospel, Jesus didn’t mince words. “Make disciples of all nations,” he said (Matt. 28:18). This wasn’t a suggestion or extra-credit assignment. And it wasn’t followed by “if you’re charming and outgoing and like talking to people” or “if you get a degree in theology first.”
Christ’s command is clear and universal, yet for so many Christians it can seem like martyrdom is an easier task than talking to a stranger about the Lord and his salvation. Don’t people get annoyed by a lot of God-talk? Isn’t it rude to impose your religion on others?
We don’t have to let fear silence us, says a new book from Catholic Answers Press. In How to Talk About Jesus with Anyone, Steve Dawson (St. Paul Street Evangelization) teams up with Cy Kellett (Catholic Answers Live) to help tongue-tied Christians do their part to fulfill the Great Commission. They show how, with the right mindset, a little attention to preparation and technique, and an eye for opportunities, we can all be the evangelists we’re called to be.
“Even those who are comfortable defending the Faith against attacks can find it hard, even terrifying, to strike up random conversations about God and religion,” says Todd Aglialoro, director of publishing for Catholic Answers. “For such people, How to Talk About Jesus with Anyone is not only deeply convicting—reminding us that such conversations are our duty—it’s also encouraging. Because the truth is, we can do it. And not only do people need to hear Christ’s saving truth, deep down they want to. And if we don’t tell them, who will?”
