El Cajon, CA — To commemorate January as Sanctity of Human Life month, Catholic Answers distributed more than 11,000 copies of the best-selling pro-life book Persuasive Pro-Life by Catholic Answers apologist Trent Horn.
“I consider it a great blessing that thousands of people are now equipped with the tools they need to effectively defend the pro-life worldview one conversation at a time,” Horn said.
Throughout January, Catholic Answers offered the title as a free e-book. For those interested in the print edition, the price was lowered dramatically to $5 on the Catholic Answers shop site, shop.catholic.com. The majority of the copies distributed were e-books.
“It was encouraging to see the free download ads on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest being shared and circulated immediately,” marketing manager Kerry Beck said. “It’s yet another sign that people want to learn how to talk about this issue.”
The deeply discounted price led to an increase in sales of the print edition during January.
“Many customers bought multiple copies to share with family and friends,” sales manager Peggy Stenbeck said. “In fact, some bought cases.”
Catholic Answers also distributed a large quantity of books at the local pro-life event, the San Diego Walk for Life.
“Many attendees were excited to take an extra copy for a friend,” events manager Erika Santana said. “One seminarian took a stack for all of his brothers, and several youth group leaders were thrilled to take some home for their teens.”
Word of mouth spread quickly throughout the Walk. “A number of visitors to our booth came because a friend recommended they get a free copy,” said seminars coordinator Jen Phelps.
Throughout the month, supporters and fans of Catholic Answers were reminded of the Persuasive Pro-Life deals via insider email alerts, social media, and catholic.com advertisements, as well as commercials aired daily during the Catholic Answers Live radio show.
In the coming days Catholic Answers will be sending free copies to Catholic U.S. senators and congressmen.
