In today’s episode, we focus on several details found within the readings for this upcoming 24th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year C that have apologetical significance. The detail in the first reading, taken from Numbers 21:4b-9 comes up in discussions concerning having and venerating religious images. Three details in the second reading, taken from Philippians 2:6-11, relate to the early Christian belief in Jesus’ divinity. Finally, the details in the Gospel reading, which is taken from John 3:13-17, arise in discussions concerning Mary’s bodily assumption and the doctrine of ‘once saved, always saved.’
