You May Read Unapproved Bible Translations

Question:

Is it against canon law to read, review, and use for reference other translations of the Bible not explicitly approved by the Church?

Answer:

Catholics can use “unapproved” translations for their personal use.  Obviously, it’s recommended to use an approved translation to avoid theological errors, but it is not forbidden to use unapproved translations. The Church only requires approved translations for its liturgies.
