Why No Book of Stephen in the Bible

Question:

What is the Book of Stephen, and why is it not in the Bible?

Answer:

The Book of Stephen is also known as the Revelation of Stephen and the Apocalypse of Stephen.

The work is clearly mostly fictional, since it portrays the death of the Jewish scholar Gamaliel as happening shortly before the death of St. Stephen, yet all other sources tell of Gamaliel living at least a decade past the stoning of Stephen.

It appears to have been a work of Gnostic Christians rather than orthodox Christians.
