Which Finger for the Ring?

Listen to the audio version of this content

Question:

Is there a specific finger your wedding ring is supposed to go on according to the Catholic Faith?

Answer:

The norm is for the wedding ring to be placed on the “ring” finger, or fourth finger. This is a social custom and not a regulation of the Church. A married couple could opt to place their wedding rings on any finger they choose—or even to have no rings at all.
