Were Women Present at the Last Supper?

Question:

Were there women at the Last Supper?

Answer:

The Gospels do not say anyone was present at the Last Supper other than Jesus and the apostles (Matt. 26:20, Mark 14:17, Luke 22:14). Even in the preparations for the meal, Jesus instructs his apostles to prepare everything (Matt. 26:17-19, Mark 14:12-16, Luke 22:7-13), so there doesn’t even seem to have been women who prepared the meal or served it.

Some scholars have speculated that the beloved disciple (John 13:23) was not one of the twelve apostles, but even if that is accepted, it is clear that the beloved disciple was a man (John 19:26).

Some have theorized that there may have been more than one table in the room and that Jesus and the apostles were at one table and various other followers (and maybe the family of where this was taking place) were at other tables. However, this is pure conjecture, since the Gospels do not even hint at this.
