Marriage Doesn’t Mean Putting God Second

Question:

Does God favor eunuchs? Does getting married mean I’ve placed something else before God by not seeking his highest favor first?

Answer:

Since when is getting married placing something before God when marriage was his idea? (“Be fruitful and multiply,” he told man in Genesis 1:28). Although the Church acknowledges the consecrated celibate vocation as higher than that of marriage because in it God is more proximate (he in a sense becomes the spouse), ultimately both vocations lead to total union with him for eternity. St. John Paul II called marriage the primordial vocation in that by extending the population of the Church, it makes possible all vocations.
