How Does Praying the Rosary Make Us Holy?

Question:

How does praying the rosary make us holy?

Answer:

The rosary is a meditation on the life of Christ with Mary. When contemplating these sacred mysteries through each decade of the rosary, we are being schooled in holiness.

The rosary, when it is prayed in an authentic way, not mechanical and superficial but profoundly, it brings, in fact, peace and reconciliation. It contains within itself the healing power of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, invoked with faith and love at the center of each “Hail Mary” (Address of Pope Benedict XVI Basilica St. Mary Major, 2008).

With the rosary, the Christian people sits at the school of Mary and is led to contemplate the beauty on the face of Christ and to experience the depths of his love. Through the rosary the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer (Apostolic letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae, Pope St. John Paul II, 2002).
