Can I proceed to sponsor someone entering the Church on Easter if they made an iffy/half-hearted reconcilation last week? How responsible am I for the grave matter on their soul, since they will be receiving the Holy Body of Christ Saturday night?
Answer:
I’m not sure how you could definitively judge that their confession was “iffy/half-hearted.” Even if the person said that, you don’t know if they were simply acting somewhat disinterested because he didn’t want to discuss the matter.
If the person has fulfilled all the requirements of the parish and the priest feels the person is ready for confirmation, then I would suggest you defer to that judgment.
