Changing the Words of Absolution

Question:

For absolution, if a priest says, "I absolve you from all your sins..." The "all" is not part of the rite. Would that make it invalid?

Answer:

While the proper wording should always be used, as long as the priest by changing the words does not change the meaning, the sacrament is valid. In this case, the words of absolution are barely changed, and no meaning can be considered to have changed; therefore, it was a valid (if illicit) absolution.
