Catholics and Civil Marriage

Question:

Is civil marriage between two baptized Catholics sacramental?

Answer:

Catholics are required to be married in a church or chapel by Catholic clergy (canon 1108 §1).  If two Catholics were civilly married outside the Church then the marriage would be invalid.
