Can Someone Resign as a Baptismal Sponsor?

Question:

Can a person resign as a sponsor after baptism?

Answer:

No, once a person has officially witnessed the baptism and stood as the sponsor at the baptism, he cannot undo that action. The person, obviously, can stop fulfilling the role after baptism, but he cannot undo what has already taken place.
