Books of Maccabees: B.C. or A.D.?

Question:

Regarding 2 Maccabees 12:43: was this taking place after the life of Jesus, and were these people Christians or Jews?

Answer:

1 and 2 Maccabees tell of the events of the Jewish Maccabean revolt which took place from 167 to 160 B.C.

These books are part of Jewish history and contain the story of the miracle of the oil in the Temple that is part of the Jewish Hanukkah celebration.
