Anxiety and Confession

Question:

I have anxiety. I cannot go to confession face to face. Even in a darkened confessional, I still freeze up; either I can’t get the words out or forget some of them. Are those sins I don’t confess forgiven?

Answer:

We are only required to confess mortal sins. If you failed to confess any venial sins, they are still forgiven through the sacrament.

If, however, you are having trouble confessing mortal sins, I suggest you that try to find a regular confessor with whom you can feel comfortable and who can help walk you through the sacrament.
