Joe Scheidler is the Founder and National Director of the Pro-Life Action League, based in
Chicago, Illinois. He has been active in the pro-life movement since the Supreme Court of the
United States issued its Roe v. Wade decision in January 1973, effectively condemning millions
of unborn babies to death.
Scheidler’s tactics were effective enough for the National Organization for Women to bring a
RICO lawsuit against him in 1986, NOW v. Scheidler, which took him to the U. S. Supreme
Court three times. His victory in 2003 was undermined by NOW’s collaboration with the
Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. A final, decisive ruling in his favor came from a unanimous
Supreme Court in 2006.
