Brayden Cook is the host of The Catechumen, a YouTube channel dedicated to thoughtful, charitable conversation at the intersection of Catholicism and Protestantism. The name reflects Brayden’s conviction that every Christian remains a learner: a “catechumen” in the broader sense—always growing in understanding, holiness, and fidelity to the historic faith.
After being introduced to the Church Fathers in December 2020, Brayden began re-examining the beliefs he held as a Southern Baptist and testing them against the witness of early Christianity and a renewed perspective of Sacred Scripture. Following months of study, prayer, and discernment, he and his wife pursued full communion with the Catholic Church—attending Mass beginning in November 2021, entering RCIA in May 2022, and being confirmed at the Easter Vigil on April 8, 2023.
Through clear teaching, careful research, and respectful dialogue, Brayden aims to foster an environment where informative content can be shared freely and fruitfully—promoting ecumenical understanding, sharpening clarity on meaningful theological issues, and encouraging unity rooted in truth and charity.
