Kandea came to the Catholic Church having been raised Christian in the prosperity gospel. At best, she was confused in her faith, and, at worst, lost. She lives in Bakersfield, California, with her husband, Mike, and two young children, Olivia, 16 months, and Max, 2 months. Most of her time is dedicated to being a stay-at-home mom and serving her family. She and her husband teach RCIA classes in their parish.
From Confused to Catholic
When I met my husband, he was Catholic, and I was living as a Christian, but my faith was very confused, and I felt lost. I grew up in the prosperity gospel, and I saw so many things that were contradictory that it made me walk away from religion. Sometimes you just don’t know what God wants you to do or what path he wants you to take.
I loved God but didn’t have any direction for my life or church family. As I explored the Catholic faith, I peppered my now husband with dozens of deep questions that challenged every aspect of the Faith. This drove him to buy every book Catholic Answers had to offer and to listen to the podcast on a constant loop to get answers to my questions! Eventually, I began to listen to Catholic Answers Live my self, and as I listened to the apologists address these difficult questions, I started getting the answers I had been longing for.
My journey to Catholicism began because I was hearing things on the show that made me say to myself, “Yes, that makes sense, that’s what I’ve been looking for!” The conflict in my heart and spirit caused by things I had been taught was replaced with feelings of peace and rest. Slowly, understanding and calm began to take over.
Catholic Answers Live was a huge part of getting my questions answered about the Faith and gently leading me to come to the fullness of truth. My journey would have taken much longer if it weren’t for the knowledgeable, kind, and loving folks at Catholic Answers and, of course, my long-suffering husband, who still listens to the show faithfully and always buys the latest books! We bought two cases of Why We’re Catholic for friends, family, and our RCIA classes, along with a variety of other books.
All of the resources Catholic Answers provides, from Catholic.com to books to radio, have made a profound difference in my life, and I am living the Faith I always longed for!
