Donna Barrack Takes the Marketing Reins

Catholic Answers is happy to introduce Donna Barrack as director of marketing, the newest edition to your Catholic Answers executive team. Donna joins Catholic Answers with more than twenty years’ experience in marketing, communications, and sales.

Donna earned a bachelor’s degree in English from San Diego State University. She discovered her love for marketing early in her career and has worked for both public and private companies creating and launching brand-awareness campaigns, lead-generation programs, marketing automation, sales enablement, and a variety of advertising and strategic marketing programs.

“Donna not only brings a lot of knowledge and experience to the position, but she also understands what it takes to be an entrepreneur and to make things happen,” said Jon Sorensen, chief operating officer for Catholic Answers. “I’m very excited to have her join us and believe she will add significant strength to our team.”

CA: So, what exactly are your day-to-day responsibilities?

DONNA: I oversee all marketing efforts, including brand strategy, art direction, strategic planning, competitive research, analytics—

CA: Can you explain in layman’s terms, for instance, “brand strategy”?

DONNA: Simply, brand strategy is a long-term plan that answers how, what, where, when, and to whom we communicate. It means ensuring consistent media coverage, increasing brand awareness, and sharing our brand story in an engaging, meaningful way.

CA: What are you most excited about in joining Catholic Answers?

DONNA: Where should I start? Working in the secular world, I’d often get asked by colleagues, “Why are you so happy or what’s so great about being a Catholic?” Those questions led to deeper conversations and sometimes challenges. I’d often turn to Catholic.com for trusted answers. With a deep love of the Catholic faith, I’m most excited about applying my experience and passion for marketing to helping others learn and grow in their faith.

CA: Do you have a specific focus or goals in your role as director of marketing?

DONNA: I’ll be focused on branding, which we’ve covered already. More importantly, I’ll focus on executing the plan! I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, planning and organizing to get results. My parents were small-business owners, instilling values like resourcefulness, accountability, and hard work. For instance, if I needed spending money, I’d wash my neighbor’s car or babysit. I remember going door-to-door selling chocolate bars for St. Mary’s of the Assumption, my grade school, so I could earn a trip to Disneyland. (I did!) I was naturally drawn to business.

I shouldn’t fail to mention that prayerfulness played an integral role in our family life. There were many challenging times we faced as a family. Staying close to the sacraments and steadfastness in prayer kept us during trials and triumphs. I am certainly blessed to be working for Catholic Answers where my personal values are completely integrated with my professional goals.
