Is There a Difference in Catholic Catechisms?
I have been doing a lot of research on the Eastern Catholic Church. I came across the Catechism of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. Is there a difference between this catechism and St. John Paul II's Catechism of the Catholic Church?
The Catechism of the Catholic Church is for the universal church, irrespective of the rite followed in particular churches. Even so, it is appropriate for the bishops of particular regions or rites to publish their own catechisms that apply the universal teaching to the circumstances and customs of their people. So there is no difference in faith between the Catechism of the Catholic Church and a particular catechism such as you mention but a difference in presentation or emphasis. Local catechisms also may contain supplementary information that offers more on some topics than the universal catechism does.
