EVEN readers without sharp eyes will have noticed
some changes in This Rock's format, the cover being the most
obvious. We're doing a little tinkering now and would like to do considerably
more later. Before we make too many more changes, we'd like your input.
Our plans include more pages and therefore more articles,
a wider range of topics and problems considered, a longer list of
writers, graduating from uncoated paper to coated paper (so the inside
can be printed in full color), and a general improvement in graphical
design.
We aren't announcing when we'll be able to effect these
changes, but with your input they can come sooner rather than later.
If we may ask a favor of you, please drop us a note and let us know
(1) which regular departments you especially like, (2) which you don't
like at all, and (3) which new departments you'd like to see.
That's part one. Part two: Please tell us which of
the changes listed in the second paragraph are important to you and
which aren't. Maybe you want more pages and therefore more text; maybe
you want more color and are willing to forgo extra pages. Maybe you
want us to stick with black ink inside because you like uncoated paper.
Maybe the type we use is too small- or too large.
Whatever your preferences, mail them to my attention.
Of course, we can't guarantee to implement everyone's suggestions,
but we do want to produce a magazine that comes as close as possible
to the magazine you ideally would like to read. Thanks.
