My publisher was pleased to tell me, and I was pleased to hear, that my new book has sold several thousand copies on a pre-publication basis. Those sales have been to Catholic bookstores, but I see no reason why bookstores alone should be at the head of the line. If you'd like to get one of the first copies of What Catholics Really Believe--Setting the Record Straight, please see the advertisement in this issue. Note that you can get your copies auto-graphed. Industry sources have assured us that a signed copy is worth at least twenty cents more than an unsigned copy--good news in a recessionary economy.
Bad news, no news: The Postal Service will increase rates for non-profit groups by 20.5% in October. But don't worry. Your subscription rate won't increase. We just ask you to cooperate by renewing on the first notice, even though the notice may indicate your expiration date is two months or more away. By renewing on the first notice you save us enough to offset the postage increase.
We're pleased with the response to our call for "Catholic Answers reps." We're more than halfway to our goal of 100 reps, friends who will spread the news about Catholic Answers and This Rock to parishes in their dioceses. If you'd like to join the ranks, please see the notice on the back cover.
