We're experimenting. Lots of folks have asked for articles explaining the books of the Bible. In this issue we're running two short selections from Antonio Fuentes' Guide to the Bible. Please let us know if you find these helpful. If enough people say they do, each month we will cover one or two Old Testaments books and one or two New Testament books, with an eye toward covering everything in two or three years.

Our readers come not just in different shapes and sizes, but with different amounts of knowledge. We try to balance our offerings--some introductory, some middling, some advanced. If you would let us know what degree of sophistication you would like to see in articles, we will do our best to oblige.

Special thanks to the many of you who notified us of your prayers for a safe and successful trip to the Vatican, and thanks to everyone who whispered a prayer for us and didn't tell us about doing so. Our staff gathers for corporate prayers on mornings we don't have Mass celebrated here in the office by our chaplain, Fr. Earl La Riviere, or by a visiting priest, such as Fr. William Most, who was with us for a week in June. Please know that, whether at corporate prayer or at Mass, we remember you. We ask you to keep us and our families (who put up with many inconveniences because of our work) in your prayers.
