Despite what some say, we know Jesus is man as well as God. It wasn't a phantasm that died on the Cross, but "the man Christ Jesus."

"Then he said to them, 'My soul is sorrowing even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me'" (Matt. 26:38).

"But Jesus cried out in a loud voice and gave up his spirit" (Matt. 27:50).

"Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last" (Mark 15:37).

"Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands I commend my spirit'; and when he had said this he breathed his last" (Luke 24:46).

"And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father's only Son, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).

"And when Jesus had taken the wine, he said, 'It is finished.' And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit" (John 19:30).

"Jesus the Nazorean was a man commended to you by God with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs, which God worked through him in your midst, as you yourselves know" (Acts 2:22).

"Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross" (Phil. 2:7-8).

"For there is one God. There is also one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (2 Tim. 2:5).
