THIS month we're beginning a new department, "Master Apologetics," which will feature writing from the best modern apologists. We're leading off with John L. Stoddard--not a household name, but one you should know. In future months we'll print work from such writers as Ronald Knox, G. K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, E. C. Messenger, Fulton Sheen, Arnold Lunn, Frank Sheed and Maisie Ward, Cardinal Newman, David Goldstein--even from people who are still alive. These writers taught and defended the faith better than anyone, and we want you to sample their fine minds and techniques.
If you like to travel and like travel that has a spiritual component, please consider joining me on a pilgrimage to Japan. We'll be gone May 16 - 26. Although Japan never was a center of Catholicism, the Church in Japan has a wonderful history. At parish seminars I explain that we find in Japan the most glorious example of fidelity in Catholic history. It's a story that brings tears to listeners' eyes. See the advertisement in this issue, then call the tour company for further information and a complete itinerary (one I planned myself). You can get to the "regular" pilgrimage sites anytime, but this out-of-the-ordinary trip will be something really special. I look forward to having you along.
