Why NFP: Understanding Chastity in Marriage

Chastity Talk
Matthew Fradd

All young people have at least this is common: they desire joy! Joy is impossible without love, and romantic love is impossible without chastity. In this high-energy presentation, Matthew proposes that the virtue of chastity is for those who desire joy and that any sexual relationship devoid of this virtue will always disappoint. Backed up with compelling statistics and engaging personal stories, Matthew challenges audience members to open their minds and hearts and embrace the Church's teachings on human sexuality.

Marriage Issues: Weddings; Divorce; Annulment; Remarriage
Jim Blackburn

As the author of “101 Quick Questions with Catholic Answers: Marriage, Divorce, and Annulment”, Jim gets to the heart of this widely misunderstood area of Church teaching.  During this talk we will consider these simple questions that even most Catholics can’t answer:

•         Can Catholics marry non-Catholics?
•         Does the Church allow divorce?
•         Can divorced Catholics receive communion?
•         Can they remarry?
•         Aren't annulments just Catholic divorces?
•         Can I attend a wedding outside the Church?
•         Why so many rules about marriage?
•         And more!

Defending the Indissoulibility of Marriage
Karlo Broussard

Karlo goes to the front lines of the battle field and addresses the issue of the indissolubility of marriage in an age where divorce and remarriage, even among both Catholics and Protestants, is rampant.  Karlo takes on the challenge of responding to the Protestant objection that, according to the teaching of Jesus in Matthew 19:9, one is permitted to divorce his or her spouse due to the sin of adultery.  Karlo demonstrates that such an interpretation is absurd and gives reasons why Jesus in that very passage wills the contrary, i.e., no divorce and remarriage.

Parenting the Teens We Love (for parents and teachers)
Christina King

When your young ones leave home, make sure they don't leave without their faith! Christina talks about the five reasons teens choose high risk behaviors (alcohol, drugs and sex outside of the marriage covenant). She also gives ten things we can do to share our love as parents and primary educators so that Christ’s love and expectations of holiness are things that teens will want to choose for themselves.

God Is Looking For A Few Good Men
Tim Staples

Straight talk to men about being the men that God has called them to be. Tim teaches on the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony from the perspective of the Husband and his special call to headship/service. Focusing on the Sacrament, Tim challenges men to sacrifice for their wives (and children if they are so blessed with them) in the image of Christ’s sacrifice for his Bride, the Church in order to be the “first principle of life” in the family in the image of God, the Father in the life of the Trinity. The family, the Church and the culture is only as strong as its men. Tim challenges men to be the kind of men who will bring about by their prayers and sacrifices the kinds of families that will serve to strengthen both the Church and the Culture through faithful service.

The Woman: Pinnacle Of God’s Creation
Tim Staples

In this talk on Holy Matrimony, which is a complement to God is Looking for a Few Good Men, Tim focuses on the role of woman as “glory of man” as St. Paul refers to it in I Corinthians 11:7. The woman brings a gift of receptivity and humility rooted in her very nature as the one who “receives the seed” into her being in order to bring forth life. Tim here shows how this great gift is, in a sense, the foundation of the family, the Church, a truly just society and of civilization itself. Tim uses the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary to bring this point home in a powerful and deeply moving way.
