The latest version of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal contains a Decree of Publication, dated March 19, 2003, which states, "Effective immediately, this translation of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal is the sole translation of the Institutio Generalis Missalis Romani, edition typica tertia, for use in the dioceses of the United States of America."
