Anti-Catholics Are Going
After the Pope!

Help us defend him when
he comes to America in April!

Dear Friend of Catholic Answers,

Just recently, Pope Benedict XVI came under fierce attack by extreme anti-Catholics who stopped him from speaking at a university in Rome.

Perhaps you saw the news stories. It made international headlines—because it was the first time any pope had been “shouted down” and “shut down” by university-based enemies of the Catholic Church.

The insult was unprecedented—and an ominous foreshadowing of things to come.

The reason I’m writing to you about this is because the Pope is making his first trip to America in a couple of months—and we fully anticipate an outbreak of anti-Catholic propaganda campaigns and protests that will attempt to sabotage the Holy Father’s historic visit to our country.

In fact, anti-Catholics are going to be extra-active because this could well be Pope Benedict’s only visit to the United States, given his age and the number of other countries he plans to visit as shepherd of the universal Church. Those who hate the Holy Father know that this may be their only chance, and they want to make sure that their efforts have the maximum impact.

Furthermore, the anti-Catholics will use the occasion of the Pope’s visit to spread their slick propaganda—attacking the Catholic faith itself—just as they do at the “World Youth Day” celebrations around the world.

That’s because tens of thousands of Catholic youth will be in attendance at the Pope’s public Masses—one to be held at Yankee Stadium in New York, and the other at Nationals Stadium in Washington, D.C.

The anti-Catholics believe it’s their duty to convert young Catholics to “real” Christianity—that is, Fundamentalist Protestantism—and they target our youth between the ages of 15 to 25 because they’re the most vulnerable.

What's more: It is from the ranks of these young Catholics that our future priests, deacons, brothers, and nuns will come.

The anti-Catholics hope to pry them—through arguments, debates, tracts, pamphlets, tapes, you name it—away from the Catholic faith.

And that means we could lose many vocations to the religious life if we don’t do something about it.

That’s why I need your help to battle the anti-Catholics when Pope Benedict comes to the United States in April.

I’m talking about groups like these …

• Christians Evangelizing Catholics
• Missionary Outreach to Catholics
• Reaching Catholics for Christ
• Reaching Out to Catholics
• The Association of Fundamentalists Evangelizing Catholics
• And many others!

These groups—as you can tell by their names—have one goal …

To take Catholics out of the Church, and to replace the faith of the apostles with the errant, man-made faith of Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Wesley, and the other Reformers.

We can’t let that happen.

And we especially can’t let it happen on Pope Benedict’s first visit to America!

Here’s What We Plan to Do
to Stop Them

Our plan consists of a charitable but solid resistance to the lies, half-truths, and distortions that will be spread by the anti-Catholic

Fundamentalists during the Pope’s visit.

We know they’ll be attacking the very concept of the papacy itself.

So we’ve come up with a powerful booklet titled We Have a Pope, written by our good friends Stephen Ray and Dennis Walters.

This booklet meets all of the Fundamentalist objections head-on and answers them in a concise, friendly way that’s useful for Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

Anyone who reads this booklet will learn …

• The pope’s real job on earth—given to him by God himself.
• Whether the early Church thought the pope had authority. Surprising facts that can’t be refuted.
• Where the title “pope” came from.
• Little-known flaw in the English translation of the Bible that causes major confusion about the papacy among modern Protestants.
• What would happen to the Church if there were no pope.
• What Jesus really gave to Peter—and what it means to us today.
• The compelling historical and biblical proofs that Peter was indeed the leader of the apostles and the entire Church during its infancy.
• What Clement of Rome tells us (in A.D. 96) about how apostolic succession really worked from the beginning.
• How the pope gets elected—and how this developed over the ages.
• What the pope’s #1 duty is each and every day.
• How to tell when the pope is speaking infallibly—and if he has to be sitting in a special chair.

All this and much more is contained in this impressive 30-page booklet that we want to hand out by the tens of thousands during the Pope Benedict’s visit in April.

But to do that …

We Need Your Help Right Away!

We want to print and distribute tens of thousands of copies of We
Have a Pope—because that’s what it will take to blanket the crowds coming to see Pope Benedict.

So, as you can see, we have a big job on our hands.

We estimate that all the costs of printing, shipping, travel, and distribution labor costs will reach somewhere in the neighborhood of $62,000.

When you consider that hundreds, perhaps thousands, of souls—and many vocations—might be salvaged through this project, it becomes a small price to pay.

But nevertheless, it’s a very large amount for us. We don’t have $62,000 in the bank—not remotely. But that’s what it will take to reach the young Catholics who will be in the crowd at the Pope’s U.S. visit in April.

So, to go forward with this project, we need your help. And we need it today. The Pope’s visit is scheduled for April 15–20—which isn’t too far off.

Therefore, we need everyone to be very generous so we can defend the faith and the Pope during his first visit to America.

Specifically, we need …

• 1 person to give $5,000
• 8 people to give $1,000 each
• 20 people to give $500 each
• 70 people to give $100 each
• 915 people to give $35 each

We pray that you will be one of those 1,014 people.

We don’t have any time to lose, so we’re asking for your help now.

We want to make sure that everyone present for the Pope’s historic visit to America gets a copy of We Have a Pope.

After all, you never know who’s going to need it the most!

Will You Stand With Us?

With your help, Catholic Answers will be there—and we will put a copy of We Have a Pope into the hands of everyone we see.

And so I ask: will you stand with us in support of the Pope and in defense of the Catholic faith?

Remember: our young people are our future. From their numbers will come many priests and lay leaders during the next ten years.

I ask you to be one of the 1,014 people who will make this project possible.

I ask you to be generous for the sake of the young Catholics who are going to be targeted by the anti-Catholics in New York and Washington come April.

If you can’t be there in person, be there in spirit—to support the Pope … defend the faith … and protect our Catholic youth.

Your gift will make our work possible.

In return for your generosity, we’ll send you three free copies of the booklet, We Have a Pope, so you can read it for yourself … share it with others … and bring the truth of the Catholic faith to people who need it. After all, your friends and loved ones will have lots of questions about the Pope once anti-Catholics in the media are finished misreporting his trip.

I want to thank you, in advance, for whatever help you can give.

But remember—please act now. Time is short, and we must have the booklets printed and ready to go by April 15.

May I hear from you today?

Sincerely in Christ,

Karl

Karl Keating
President

P.S. As you know, many of our fellow Catholics today are inadequately educated about their faith. That’s why they’re “easy prey” for anti-Catholic Fundamentalists who think they’re doing God’s work by taking people out of the Catholic Church.

With your help, we can thwart their efforts during Pope Benedict’s historic visit to the United States—and make sure that this visit is a glorious one for the Church and for the salvation of souls.

Click here to donate now…and receive your three free copies of the booklet, We Have a Pope, to read yourself and to share it with others.
