Job Description and Qualifications
Title: Database/List Manager
Location: San Diego, California
Background:
Catholic Answers, the nation’s largest lay-run apostolate of Catholic apologetics and evangelization, is rapidly growing.
We reach over 1 million people each month through our various outreach efforts.
To improve the effectiveness of these efforts, we are seeking a Database/List Manager.
This individual will be responsible for managing all.aspects of database management, plus management of client data.
On-going responsibilities include data reporting and analysis, list strategy, and vendor negotiation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee list/database management activities.
- Improve strategies and methodologies for supporting direct (physical and electronic) mail programs.
- Implement new systems/process in order to streamline and improve practices.
- Process requests for list compilation and usage
- Manage and improve current list databases, ensuring that client data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Confer with managers regarding problems and capabilities of databases.
- Assist departments in their direct fundraising and marketing strategies.
- Assist in data mining and database analysis.
- Assist in developing methodologies that analyze and test appeals, sales, and marketing campaigns.
- Train and support users while also being able to resolve problems.
- Ensure backup availability, index maintenance, tuning and performance monitoring.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience:
- Experience in database programming, administration and data analysis is a must.
- Experience using SQL Server and client tools (Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, Profiler).
- Detailed experience with mySQL, Excel, Access, Macros, etc.
- Demonstrate understanding of advanced DBMS concepts/vocabulary.
- Experience working with multiple departments to define and complete projects.
- Experience overseeing service providers and list management.
- Adhere to accepted standards and procedures.
- Demonstrated responsibility, follow-through and ability to generate results.
- Bachelors degree
- 2-3 years directly-related work experience.
- Experience wih non-profits would be advantageous.
