Pope Francis made some remarks last week regarding invalid marriages, and I’ve received a large number of requests for comment, so here goes . . .

During a question-and-answer session on Thursday, June 16 at the opening ceremony for a diocesan congress dealing with his apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia (the document that he released after the two synods of bishops). So they were unscripted remarks.

Pope Francis said outright yesterday what before could only be intuited from his comments: that most sacramental marriages today are not valid.

According to EWTN News, in an impromptu answer to a layman’s question at the Diocese of Rome’s pastoral congress, the pope said, “[T]he great majority of our sacramental marriages are null. Because they say, ‘Yes, for the rest of my life!’ but they don’t know what they are saying. . . . They say it, they have good will, but they don’t know.”...

If God is a God of miracles as theists claim, then why doesn’t he perform more to stop evil?

I must admit this is one question I’ve wrestled with in solidarity with my atheist friends.
